I need stimulus money
You read that right, I need stimulus money. As of June 30th, I became unemployed because the contract I had with a software consulting firm expired and they simply didn’t have any projects to place me on, so to the soup kitchen lines I went!
I’m going to experiment with some freelance work to fill the Sizemore family income gaps.
Here’s what I’m offering
Short story and novel critiques–Receive an extensive critique of your short story or novel. This includes red ink on the manuscript and a one page critical analysis of your story or novel. I’ll do light line edits and proofreading, but this is more of an ‘improve your work’ critique than a grammatical edit.
My going price will be $2.00 per page (page=250 words), but for the first few who are willing to hire me for my first go-around as a freelancer, I’m offering a one-time only special price of $1.00 per page.
I am also available for book layout & design. Cost will depend on the size of the book and needs, but in general $100-$300.
My qualifications
I was a Stoker award finalist for the first anthology I edited (Aegri Somnia in 2006). Since 2005, I’ve been the editor-in-chief and publisher of Apex Magazine (publishes short dark SF). I’m the editor-in-chief and acquisitions editor for Apex Books where five of our last six novels have been reviewed by Publishers Weekly (including one starred review).
I’m also a writer and have been published in venues such as Shroud Magazine, Murky Depths, City Slab, and Surreal Magazine. I currently do some freelance blogging for Tor.com. My first collection of horror comes out next year from Shroud Publications.
I have a Bachelors of Arts in Computer Science from Transylvania University. I’ve worked in the software development field for twelve years.
